'CHEYENNE RIVER HOME

"Cheyenne River Home"---This piece honors where my wife and her family are from, Cheyenne River in South Dakota. I made this from the wonderful stories Geri told me of her spending time in Eagle Butte as a kid visiting her grandparents and playing with all her cousins. It was definitely a place that was Home to her. It brings me joy and tears to know she is in a place now where she is at peace. Like the stories she told from her childhood. The horses honor the Lakota. The horses are running through the water, unbridled, no saddle, no rider, through the water toward the mountains. They are running free. The water represents the paths we are on in this life the water in front of the horses represents the paths yet to be taken. The mountains represent the Sacred Black Hills. The horses are running Home, Running Free. "Cheyenne River Home!"
