"BUTTERFLY RIBBON"---This piece was created in February 2018. It was made while Geri was in the hospital for the last time. This last hospitalization was when we received the diagnosis that the cancer has run its course and it was only a matter of time. When we received the news Geri was surrounded by family. It was such a hard ordeal. There were many tears shed and hugs shared between everyone. Geri lived and breathed hope through her faith and family. Until the end Geri fought not for her life but because she loved life. Geri loved spending time with family and friends. She brought joy and hope to many not by words but by the way she loved. Her example is a roadmap to true happiness. Geri's strength came from prayer. She prayed for others most of all. Geri offered to the Lord what she was going through for others. She always thanked the Lord for bringing such wonderful people into her life. Geri made many lasting friendships beyond this life for one simple reason. She loved with all she had. This cancer ribbon represents strength and unity. I made three different butterflies and weaved them to form the inner part of the cancer ribbon. On each butterfly there is a cancer ribbon and a cross. The butterfly represents renewal of life. This design I pray may bring hope and joy to those in the midst of much pain and uncertainty.
